Herewith a current overview regarding the AIR CARGO industry further to COVOID-19. Whilst the country is facing Lockdown, we have been in constant communication with our Offices and Partners, Airlines, Air Charters and Ground Handling Agents, and can report as follows:
REGULAR AIRFREIGHT:
Qatar Airways has resumed services out of their main hub (DOH) to various airports within China. In additional to Qatar, KLM/MartinAir/SAA/Cathy Pacific/Emirates and Fedex are operating ad-hoc Freighter services commencing this coming Friday the 3rd of April ex Johannesburg.
Important facts:
- Cargo will only be accepted from CIPC Certificate providers of Essential Goods
- Rates are off the charts and available upon request
- Bookings are subject to availability and space is going fast
- Carriers will impose penalties on cancelled bookings
- There are and will continue to be substantial backlogs
AIR CHARTER SERVICES:
Ziegler South Africa has a range of Air Charter partners. We note that most Wide Body services are operating between China and Europe and therefore any supply to Africa is at a premium. HKG/SHA and CAN still have some April slot availability, but as with Regular Cargo services, capacity is being sold out quickly. There is currently a fair amount of capacity ex South Africa into Africa, but that will also dry up once the long -haul routes are secured.
If you need to move approved and urgent medical supplies, contact our Airfreight Manager, Ryno Slabbert rynos@ziegler.co.za ,or call him on 082Â 436 3769
AIR AND LANDSIDE TARIFFS:
Due to market volatility and increased operating costs, some Ground Handling agents are enforcing a COVOID-19 continuity surcharge during the Lock down period. We will pass this on at cost.
For more information surrounding this, kindly contact your Ziegler Representative.
We thank you for your continued support
Keep safe and regards,
